ENTERPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC)
An Enterpreneurship Development Cell has been established to helps the students to convert their dreams of being an entrepreneur in reality. Small and medium entrepreneurs, Technocrats, Managers, Officers from Industries, Departments, Financial Institutions and Banks are invited for interaction with students. The following activities are being undertaken by this Cell:
Incubation Center, BBDIT is approved by Ministry of MSME for incubation of innovative ideas. In last two years many innovative ideas were received from incubates, some of which were accepted by Incubation center and were finally approved by DCMSME, Ministry of MSME, GOI. Such incubation projects under guidance of incubate are in advanced stages supported by over 63 students under mentorship of faculty and HODs. Incubation center is headed by a full time manager supported by team of experts in projects, entrepreneurship, automation, programming, robotics and general management. The manager , Incubation center has strong relationship with industry. Incubation center is equipped with latest computers, basic fabrication machines including welding, soldering and measurement devices. Incubation Center has enough infrastructure to support start Ups to temporarily locate his Unit in campus.
There are many faculty in BBDIT , who are registered as Lean Manufacturing Consultant(LMC) with National Productivity Council(NPC),Ministry of Industry & Commerce, GOI and Quality Council of India, Ministry of Industry & Commerce, GOI. The basic rationale of the Government support to MSMEs for undertaking lean manufacturing (LM) is to enhance their productivity and competitiveness by reduction of wastages in manufacturing processes under National Manufacturing Competency Scheme of Ministry of MSME, GOI. LM techniques include 5S System ,Visual Control ,Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),Just in Time (JIT),KANBAN System, Cellular Layout ,Value Stream Mapping , Poka Yoke or Mistake Proofing, Single Minutes Exchange of Dies or Quick Changeover (SMED),TPM (Total Productive Maintenance),Kaizen Blitz or Rapid Improvement Process .There are few projects under active consideration by EDC , BBDIT to be launched in various small sectors clusters in NCR Delhi. Guest lectures and three one day workshops were organized to educate 115 micro & small sector industry owners , faculty as well as students . Increased awareness about lean manufacturing helps students acquire in depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality tools, lost cost automation and latest technology enhancing capability to secure better jobs.
Many training organizations have signed memorandum of understanding to impart skill enhancement short term training programs to students. Some of prominent companies associated with BBDIT for providing technical skills are, HCL Ltd,TCSion, Redhat , C M C, Sofcon P ltd , Prolific Engineers , HR CadCenter, Teleios, NIIT, AEAB PLtd, Finetech Controls,Candid Cohort, NIESBUD on Php, dot net, Android, Java,CNC, VMC, Embeded systems, HMI ,S P M, networking, automation, robotics, cloud computing, autocad, solid works. Every year students of III year and II year are trained in these technologies as per their interest and aptitude.
Third year and final year Students work on small projects or problems in industry for example developing SOP (standard operating procedure), writing inspection procedures, TPM( Total preventive maintenance) , developing software , designing tool etc for hands on experience. Students are involved every year in more than 15 companies in NCR Delhi to work on live projects. Some of such bright students make their way up as paid interns or GETs in companies such as Shriram Piston, GPP, Spark Engineering, ASMETECH, Aurel Controls P Ltd, Erudite Software, Sahasra Electronics, SVH Engineers P Ltd , Robotics AV, Modinagar Paper Mills Ltd, , SGES Engineers P Ltd, Radiant Energy, and many more. Students were trained in PCB manufacturing & assembly and were certified in this skill through a test by National Skill Development Council (NSDC), GOI. Directors of five companies, who are permanent mentors associated with college, continuously evaluate projects along with students & faculty.
Every student in BTech third year undergoes two months summer Internship training Program (SIP) . Students are facilitated to join companies for SIP depending on location preference, aptitude, knowledge , existing competency and desire to acquire new competency. Some of prominent companies are,BHEL,NTPC, DLW, ALT Center, Havells, Deiki Electronics,Maruti Suzuki, Shriram Piston,Legrand, HCL,ICT,Eveready,Spark Engineering, ASMETECH, Aurel Controls P Ltd, Sahasra Electronics, SVH Engineers P Ltd , Modinagar Paper Mills Ltd,Radiant Energy and many more.
Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP)
In order to encourage entrepreneurship among students many short term programs were organized. Two one day EDP was organized with the assistance of National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD )and MSME DI in BBDIT wherein 88 students and 182 students participated respectively. Another fourteen days EDP was organized with assistance of NIESBUD in BBDIT wherein 63 students participated. Yet another fourteen days EDP was organized with assistance of MSME-DI in their OKHLA, New Delhi campus wherein 29 students participated. Out of these trained students few are working on their dream projects towards becoming entrepreneur.
EDC develops close relationship with industry and Government of India departments for holding workshops for students and faculty providing exposure to experiential learning. One day workshop on Product Certification was organized in college in collaboration with MSME – DI , New Delhi wherein 124 participants from industry , academics and students got befitted. Another program on Vendor Development was organized in collaboration with National Productivity Council(NPC), GOI, Ministry of Industry, wherein 132 participants from industry , academics and students got befitted.
All the students are given opportunity to visit one industry every year to have engineering experiential learning, visualize machines in action , to understand manufacturing processes , industry environment in general and challenges in particular. Some of the industry where students have had opportunity to visit are, Havells India Ltd, Maruti Suzuki Indi Ltd, HCL, NIIT, Coca Cola, Diamond Piston ,Bisleri, GPP,Mictomatic,Samtel,ITC,Godfrey Phillips, Sofcon, AEAB
The institute has always given emphasis to R & D work where the students are encouraged to bring their dreams to reality by the guidance of faculty. The students have distinguished themselves by developing India’s first CNG motorcycle and modifying a scooter wherein efficiency is improved and pollution reduced by reusing exhaust gas of the scooter. Besides this, to name a few, the other projects undertaken by the students had been, a multilevel car parking system utilizing 40% less floor space and a website on cricket. This has been widely covered by the media including National TV channel and highly appreciated by the eminent Industrialists and senior professors from IITs.
